The 2-Minute At-Home Kidney Health Test Every Dog Owner Should Have
Detect elevated urea levels in just 2 minutes
Why Early Kidney Monitoring Matters for Dogs
Kidney disease in dogs often develops quietly, and many dogs show no obvious symptoms until a significant amount of kidney function has already been lost.
That is exactly why proactive health screening can be so important.
Kidney-Chek™ for Dogs is an innovative at-home saliva test designed to help detect elevated urea levels in just 2 minutes, allowing pet owners to identify potential kidney health concerns earlier and seek veterinary advice sooner when needed.
In dogs, kidney disease can progress gradually over months or even years, often with very little warning.
Having access to a simple, non-invasive screening tool at home gives owners an additional way to stay proactive and monitor their dog’s long-term kidney health more closely.
For dogs with previous kidney concerns, urinary health issues, dehydration episodes, or for owners who simply want to keep a closer eye on their dog’s overall kidney wellbeing, monitoring changes in urea levels may provide valuable information between routine veterinary visits.
Early detection can make a huge difference.
The sooner potential kidney issues are identified, the sooner veterinary support, ongoing care, and treatment can begin — helping improve quality of life and potentially extending lifespan.
If you have a dog, this is one of those simple products that makes sense to have at home as part of a more proactive approach to protecting their long-term health.
Why Kidney-Chek™ Is Different
Kidney-Chek™ is a scientifically developed saliva test specifically designed to detect urea, a waste product normally filtered by healthy kidneys.
When kidney function becomes compromised, urea levels can rise in the bloodstream and become detectable in saliva.
This allows Kidney-Chek™ to provide a simple, non-invasive early screening method without the need for blood draws or stressful veterinary procedures.
What Does Kidney-Chek™ Detect?
Kidney-Chek™ measures urea (Blood Urea Nitrogen / BUN related levels).
Healthy kidneys continuously filter urea from the bloodstream.
When kidney function becomes impaired, urea can begin accumulating in the blood and can then diffuse into saliva, where Kidney-Chek™ is able to detect it.
Elevated urea levels may sometimes be associated with:
- Kidney dysfunction
- Reduced kidney filtration
- Chronic kidney disease (CKD)
- Acute kidney stress
- Dehydration
- Certain urinary complications
- Other health conditions requiring veterinary evaluation
This makes Kidney-Chek™ an incredibly valuable early warning screening tool.
Clinically Supported Veterinary Research
Kidney-Chek™ has been evaluated in a clinical veterinary study involving dogs and cats across multiple veterinary clinics, comparing saliva urea readings with standard blood urea measurements. The study was published in a peer-reviewed veterinary journal:

The research demonstrated a significant correlation between saliva urea and blood urea levels, supporting its use as a non-invasive screening method for detecting elevated urea associated with kidney dysfunction.
Why Every Dog Owner Should Have One At Home
Dogs are naturally very good at hiding illness.
Unfortunately, by the time visible symptoms appear, kidney disease may already be advanced.
Kidney-Chek™ helps owners become more proactive by allowing regular at-home screening that may help detect potential changes earlier.
Especially valuable for:
- Senior dogs
- Dogs predisposed to kidney disease
- Dogs with previous kidney-related concerns
- Dogs with urinary health issues
- Dogs taking long-term medication
- Owners who want an additional layer of preventative health monitoring
This is not about replacing your veterinarian.
It is about catching potential warning signs sooner.

Simple, quick, and designed for stress-free at-home screening.

“As someone who supposedly knows animals, I only caught my cat Scout’s kidney disease because I took a Kidney-Chek strip home to test him out of curiosity. It turns out he is in stage 3 kidney disease! I would highly recommend Kidney-Chek™ to all veterinary professionals!”
